Book Title: I Am Number Four
Pages: 440
Publisher: HarperTeen
How I Got It: Bought
Synopsis:
Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books—but we are real.
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. we have lived among you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am Number Four.
I am next
My Thoughts:
The main reason why I got this book was because I won a t-shirt from HarperTeen. I didn't even know about it until that contest actually. When I saw the cover, I was like, "Oh that looks cool." so I picked it up and begged my parents to get it for me. When I read it, I realized that I should've begged for a different book.
In my opinion, the author(s) suck at writing. It reminded me of the type of books Stephanie Meyer has: terrible, but has a good plot. I liked how the book went and the idea of Aliens who look human coming to earth, but why did this author have to write it? Also, the romance scenes were VERY cheesy. Which just told me that some guys shouldn't write romance (I'm not against guy romance author's. I actually very much like Nicholas Sparks).
Overall, this story was a pretty entertaining read, except the writing itself sounds like I wrote it (not that I'm a bad writer, I'm just not super fantastic at writing like Cassandra Clare or some of those other big shot authors are), but I do want to get the next book, The Power of Six, next year. If you like science fiction books, this would be good for you. I give this a C+.
