Author Interview: Courtney Summers

Author Info:
Courtney Summers lives and writes in Canada where she divides her time between a piano, a camera, and word-processing program when she’s not planning for the impending zombie apocalypse. She enjoys Archie comics, Trailer Park Boys, and other fine art. Pierre Trudeau is her hero and if you are a volcano, she would like to know you. OR:
Courtney Summers was born in Belleville, Ontario in 1986 and currently resides in a small town not far from there. She has two parents and one older sister. She went to school for a while and then she didn't. Before she was an author, she dabbled in photography, theatre–as both an actor and Vice President of her local theatre guild–and worked for her family’s lapidary business. Consequently, she used to know a lot about gems and minerals but has since forgotten it all. Mostly.

Courtney Summers is the amazing author of Cracked Up To Be, Some Girls Are, and Fall For Anything and she has kindly agreed to do an interview on the blog,

How long did it take you to write Fall For Anything?
It took me about four to five months to write the first draft of Fall for Anything, and then about two and half months to revise it.

What things do you do for fun when your not writing?
Prepare for the impending zombie apocalypse!  That's what constitutes as "fun" in my household.  :)

Which character do you most relate to in your books?
I relate to them all in different ways!  I'm a bit cynical like Parker from Cracked Up to Be.  As a teenager, I was definitely insecure like Regina, from Some Girls Are.  And I have a hard time letting go of things, like Eddie, from Fall for Anything.

If you could bring one character out of any YA book, who would you bring out?
Archie Costello from The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier.  Archie is EVIL, but what a mastermind!  I am not sure I'd be doing the world any favours by bringing him out, but oh well!  I want to meet him!

Who are some of your favorite authors?
Lucy Christopher, Joey Comeau, Robert Cormier, CK Kelly Martin, Ryu Murakami, Nova Ren Suma and Daisy Whitney to name a few!

Who's team are you on: Werewolves, Vampires, Demons, Angels, or Zombies?
ZOMBIES.  All the way.  Werewolves, vampires, demons and angels got nothin' on zombies!

There you have it, thank you Courtney for agreeing to do this interview and thank you readers for reading it. Courtney's newest book Fall For Anything is available now in bookstores near you.
