I honestly don’t think I expected to love this book so much.
I’m not a huge golf person (in fact I hate it) and I’m not that big of a
contemporary person either, but this story surprised in the best way possible.
I felt myself cheering for the main character Fred when she played golf against
all the guys.
I really liked the diversity in this novel. A lot of the
book takes place on an Indian Reservation and that’s where our Native American
main character Fred Oday lives along with some of her friends Sam, Yolanda, and
Kelly. The relationship between her and her parents was strong but wasn’t
perfect and I think a lot of readers will like that. Fred is one of my favorite
MC’s now because she acted like a normal teenager would and was smart about
most of her decisions.
Although this was a romance story, there wasn’t an
overwhelming amount of romance which I really liked. The relationship between
Fred and Ryan grew slowly and normally which made it all the cuter. Them not
liking each other at the beginning added to the story and both characters grew
as people too.
This book is written in chapters similar to Pushing the
Limits by Katie McGarry in the way that they alternate from the girl’s
perspective to the guy’s. I think the author did a good job at relaying the guy
MC’s thoughts because they sounded like what an actual guy would say. Readers
of Miranda Kenneally will enjoy this fun contemporary.

I have been avoiding this book because I too really don't like golf, but seeing that you enjoyed it so much I may have to rethink that. I have now added it to my TBR pile. :) Great review!
ReplyDeleteI hate golf too but also really enjoyed this book! I was also reminding of Pushing the Limits. The romance was pretty well done, I agree. I love when relationships develop slowly!
ReplyDeleteI hate golf too but I actually loved the way it was described here-almost interesting! I also compared it to Pushing the Limits in my review because of the alternating perspectives; glad someone else saw the similarity.
